Cooking the books


I got some brilliant cookbooks for Christmas – Simon Hopkinson’s The Vegetarian Option and Simon Rimmer’s The Accidental Vegetarian. I mix-n-matched them for tonight’s dinner: Hopkinson’s pesto aubergine with Rimmer’s pan hegarty (boulangere potatoes with cheese on, basically).

  1. That looks delicious! I love Simon Hopkinson, though he doesn’t actually have that many different recipes, and sometimes repeats them (or slight variations of them) in different books, but that is often because they are just about perfect, and you will eat them again and again without ever tiring of them. I particularly recommend his method of cooking Basmati rice in the oven in a Le Creuset type casserole.

  2. I love cookbooks. i know that the internet is a great resource for recipes but you can’t beat thumbing through a book knowing they’ll be something you like in there. This looks YUM!

  3. I have been meaning to do this too! My boyfriend says he has never known anyone who owns so many cookbooks but only ever gets recipes from the BBC website! haha
