Copenhagen shopping
The perfect introduction to Danish style at the Dansk design shops on Istedgade: one for clothing and one for furniture and homewares. Both equally droolsome.
Ooh la la. French industrial vintage heaven at No. 40 on Gammel Kongevej. Pretty reasonable pricing and the owner will ship bulky purchases to you. I’m not sure how I managed to leave empty-handed.
Kaiku, a great little store in the city centre whose stock is a roll call of Scandi design porn.
Also in the city centre and worth a window shop for interiors: Casa shop, Stilleben and the huge Illums Bolighus department store.
Notre Dame is great for more cute and affordable bits and bobs. I got some rainbow-coloured melamine spoons, a little porcelain birdy and a storage jar.
Sadly we were foiled by flea markets entirely: they were either cancelled or rubbish. But at least in Nørreport we found this cool indoor food market called Torvehallerne instead, with great coffee from Coffee Collective.
Ravnsborggade is a sweet street in Nørrebro full of junk shops piled high with crates, glassware, lamps and so on. It also has a brilliant beer shop, Høkeren, stuffed with Danish and world beers that the gruff but friendly owner lady will let you try. The Nørrebro brewery is also at the end of the street, about which more later.
All these places are on my Copenhagen Google Map.

I’m totally drooling at all of those shops. I love the rainbow coloured cups and all the industrial type lamps. Am looking for a holiday before the year is out so maybe will consider Copenhagen, it looks amazing! x

I’m just recovering from my return from a long-anticipated trip to New York, and am casting around for the next destination (once my bank account recovers from New York!) … Copenhagen is swiftly nearing the top of the list now.
